The best thing about bed rest, Alanna quickly decides, is that the bedroom has become her own personal domain.
Not that Adam doesn't spend time or sleep here. He does. It's just that his belongings have slowly migrated to the outer rooms as he brings Alanna things to keep her entertained. Eventually he realizes that Puff has systematically seen to this, and just sighs at the mischievous sparkle in Alanna's eyes. The dragon clearly keeps her occupied and amused, so he doesn't argue. Much.
Alanna misses the cats, but Puff is great company and can often be found curled up on the pillow beside the knight's head. Every evening, Adam removes books, maps and various papers, then moves the dragon over; it's hard to find space on the bed. Several chairs have been moved into the room, along with the television and a table Alanna can use to write. The room itself is bright and airy during the day; the sheer, silky drapes flutter slightly in the small amount of wind that works its way in through the crack in the window. Alanna insists on that crack, despite the extra sweater it forces her to don. She needs that connection to fresh air.
As bed rest goes, it's not bad. But it is boring, and Alanna looks forward to any and all visitors.

"Alanna?" He peeks his head around the door, not entirely sure he should be entering even Alanna's bedroom without an invitation.

"Hullo, Gibbs. Come in! I promise I won't bite."

Though her emotions may still be walled off for the most part, she has been doing a little better since her chat with James Bond. Thanks to his casino idea, she has a new project to occupy her and distract her, thus keeping all potential meltdowns at bay. However, she could still use some genuine non-sexual companionship. And who better to provide it than her oldest bar friend?
When she arrives at Alanna's room, her hands are well and truly tied up in the carrying of several large gift-wrapped parcels, so she kicks at the door a few times instead of knocking.
"Hello? Alanna?"
no subject
It's possible she ascertains the identity of her visitor. There's no recognition of it, and she says nothing else. Just inside the front door, sounds of fighting can be heard from the bedroom.
Alanna is watching a kung fu movie.
Intently.

Or - I just talked to the Bar and she gave me this little cake shaped like an upside-down car that could be a Buick.

Puff is also quite useful in a pinch.
This is why, when Harry pokes his head in, she simply quirks an eyebrow and grins. She's glad of the distraction.
"I've never heard of a Buick, but it looks delicious."

plea for companynote about weapons and the cleaning of them. She wasnt the sort, usually, to let other people near her weapons, but she also wasn't going to get down on someone for doing the natural thing and getting pregnant, wasn't her idea of a good time.
So, that said, there was a bottle-blonde bounty hunter in an oversized sweater and a pair of battered jeans peeking around the doorway, "Hullo?" A pause and then: "I brought pizza and ice cream." Because that was what Bar had given her when she'd asked for something that would be good for a pregnant woman.

Her face is carefully expressionless; she hasn't survived this long by betraying her emotions when it really matters. Something in the back of her mind tells her this isn't Elizabeth, but she's wary all the same.
All right, perhaps a little something slips. She eyes the pizza hungrily.
"Hullo," she responds cautiously. "I've become greatly enamored of pizza and ice cream. Thank you."

A voice calls out from beyond: "Hey, I heard someone ate a camel and is on bedrest."
no subject
The sound of Bernard's voice, however, makes her grin widely. The book propped against her stomach falls to the side as she pushes herself into a less dejected looking sort of position.
"If that is some sort of modern metaphor for what one does to get in my current state, I'm afraid you lost me," she replies, loud enough for her voice to carry. "It's open!"

This is Meg's assumption, anyways, as she knocks on the door, clutching a slightly enormous tin of truffles (the chocolate variety) in her left hand.*
Salut?
no subject
"If you would, Puff?"
Lazily, the dragon flaps to the door and pushes it open with her snout, gazing up at the small blonde girl with a suspicious expression.
She has some sort of candy.
She'll do.
"Back here, Meg!"

"...hi? I'm totally not sure you wanted me to visit, I mean, like, when I was pregnant I pretty much didn't want anyone to see me ever, but then I figured, at least I could get out and move around, it must pretty much totally suck..."
She backs through the door. She's carrying vast quantities of sweets, chocolates and other things.
"...plus I just wanted to eat, like, all the time, so I brought you stuff."
And then she looks up. Luckily, she is in the right room.

The prisoner (as she has taken to calling herself today) looks up from the bed. Her eyes go wide, first at the amount of stuff in Steph's hands, then at her words.
Did Steph mention at one point that she had been pregnant? Thinking hard, Alanna smiles slowly and gestures to the mostly clean side of the bed.
"I love stuff. And I'm extremely glad for the company. It is remarkably boring back here. Have a seat!"

Thankfully by now, he's learned the way to Alanna and Adam's rooms.
When he reaches the door, he carefully shuffles some items around and knocks.

Naturally, Mel considers knocking and invitations to come in for vampires, so she doesn't. She just opens the door, and stares.

She stares.

Alanna bursts into tears. Her chin juts out stubbornly, like she'll try to deny she's crying if Mel calls attention to it.

With eyebrows high and a typically lazy smirk hanging off his features, he focuses on her belly.
"Damn 'lana, are ya gestating a small moon in there?"
no subject
"Why must everyone call attention to my stomach before even saying hello? I realize it physically precedes me into any conversation, but this is a bit ridiculous." Her eyes flash a warning look. "Don't you dare say you need your ass healed."
Secretly, she's delighted to see him.

The door is pushed open inoffensively, giving way to a small, elderly woman dressed almost completely in black, from the rim of her dress (underwhich occasionally can be seen the tip of a heavy boot) to the very top of her large pointed hat.
"This where the weapon cleaner is?"
And indeed, she's carrying in her hand a very plain, but functional carving knife.
no subject
"Aye, it is!" is her muffled reply. Frowning, she does a swift battle with encroaching bed covers and smiles at the woman.
Alanna is not easily charmed. She's too levelheaded for that. And yet, she finds herself liking this stranger on sight. The hat is a bit strange, but far be it from Alanna to express intolerance toward odd fashion choices.

As a result, when Jack backs through the door into Alanna's bedroom, he's keeping a wary eye on Puff and less of one on where he's going.
This is probably why he trips on the doorframe and nearly goes sprawling before he catches himself, arms flailing.
"Bugger."
no subject
Alanna isn't laughing. No. Not at all. That smirk was there before Jack arrived, honest.
"Hullo," Alanna manages, blinking at Jack with an expression not unlike her dragon's. "Careful, the room is a mess. Wouldn't want you to land in a box of chocolate."
Puff purrs. Sssure we would.

They'd probably agreed on a week...
But Rachel was never good with time, so the "week" part was a bit iffy by the time there was a cheerful tap at the window. What flying adventure. probably unapproved by Adam, shouldn't start by unconventional entrances?
no subject
Alanna slowly opens her eyes and looks at the window without moving her head. She smiles. A moment later, the window opens in a wave of purple light.
"That's the first time someone has used the window as a door. I don't disapprove."

It has been a very cold day. If Parker can find her, she's buried under layers of blankets and sweaters, a leather bound book on Carthak propped against her stomach. Her fingers curl around the hilt of her dagger, just in case.

"Evening," he says, reverentially.

Looking up, Alanna raises a hand in greeting and waves him inside. Her expression softens into a small smile, banishing the strained, restless look that has become more normal than not.
