Alanna waits until she's a good distance from the bar before she lets the tears fall in earnest. Scrunching up her face in an effort not to cry out her anger and frustration, she breaks into a run and races for her favorite tree. Once there, she collapses at the base and curls into a ball, trying to make herself appear as small as possible. Maybe if she's lucky she will disappear altogether. Maybe she can bend time to her will. Yes, that's clearly the answer. She'll wake up in the palace, days before the Coronation, and be able to avert tragedy. So many lives had been sacrificed to the whims of an ambitious few. Thom, Liam, Faithful... all lost. And yet the few stand before her, calmly wielding accusations and supercilious smiles. Damn them. She is not the traitor in this situation.

Furious and unbelievably hurt, Alanna stretches out on her back and glares at the sky through the tree branches. She can't believe she's doubting her entire relationship with Thom. She can't fathom that Delia of all people managed to increase her guilt tenfold.

More to the point, she can't believe she let Delia get close enough to hurt her this badly.
