*Why is it that when you desperately wish to speak with a certain person, he or she is nowhere to be found? George had delivered the arrows a full forty-five minutes ago, and the healers were long gone as well. Really, Adam should be back by now. Of course, it's entirely possible that Alanna is simply anxious. She frowns, eyeing the crudely wrapped bundle at the edge of the bed.*

*After a brief battle with the blankets, Alanna rolls to her knees and grins at him.*
I've been waiting for you.

Did you know I was bringing lunch?

*In truth, she hadn't noticed the food until he called attention to it, but now she is somewhat distracted.*
I didn't know, actually, but I'm very glad you did. Do you have any of those special rolls with the honey?

I wrote down my answers to Thom's questions.

So I guess I'll ... take them back.

*She bites her lip and sets the rest of the roll aside.*
no subject
Something else? I won't be gone as long this time.

*Swallowing, she reaches for the bundle at the edge of the bed and hands it to him. Inside the leather and twine wrapping are two arrows stained with paint and blood.*
This. You...

George got them.

*She sits down hard, staring at the arrows.*
I thought they might help Thom.
no subject
Can't hurt.

When do you think you'll go?
*As she asks, she grasps the emberstone. She bites her lower lip, crossing the room quickly and adding a note to the bottom of a scroll.*
no subject
*He watches her, nervously.*
Unless you'd rather I go sooner. I'll have to see if George will bring me back again.
no subject
Jon or Gary might be able to spare the time as well. Mistress Cooper should be by this evening, so if we haven't found the others, I'll ask after George.
Here.
Thom will know what to do. *She sounds like she really wants to believe this.*
no subject
I hope so.

*Shifting from foot to foot, she runs her eyes over his face as if trying to memorize his features.*
no subject
I'd be more surprised if you weren't.
no subject
I have to believe this will resolve itself in time.
I'll miss you more than I can say.
no subject
I promise I won't be gone too long. Last time just about drove me nuts.
no subject
*There's a ghost of a smile as she looks up at him.*
no subject
You think I can't handle him?
no subject
no subject
Ah ... butI know something he doesn't know.
