*It's two o'clock on Sunday afternoon. There's nothing particularly remarkable about this afternoon in comparison to others. The winter sun shines brightly off the snow and frozen lake, and every now and then a sharp crack sounds from the forest when a weak limb collapses under the weight of fresh snow.

Other than that, it's quiet. Perhaps too quiet.

The patio has been cleared, and as promised in the invitation, refreshments and a warm fire await.

Lucy and Alanna, however, do not. Or do they?

All shall reveal itself in time.*

He merely keeps laughing, pausing only momentarily to close his eyes as the snow flies at his face.

This is, perhaps, a mistake.

Raven emits a muffled squeak, alarmingly similar to Seafoam, and stuffs a handful of snow at Alanna's face.

Then he shoves a second one down the back of her shirt.

"Possibly you are delusional."

Raven twitches, more than faintly.

It gives the impression of a bird shaking off water.

Or snow.

And then he left hand shoots out, tossing another loosely packed snowball at her.

"I am very clever, yes."

He grins, arms hanging loosely at his sides.

"So is Sparrow, I think. I like him. You object to the sea urchin?"

He looks concerned, then.

"I hope you did not tell it that, perhaps. Their weeping is remarkably piercing."
