Bernard,
I talked to Barty yesterday, and he knows he is to report to Gil for kitchen duty this afternoon. He seemed relieved to be away from the Gunslingers' watchful eyes. I suspect he's mildly afraid of them (as well he should be), and I think this is information that might be of use to us in the future. Should he be stupid enough to step out of line again, that is.
We need to talk about the body switching nonsense. Clarice told me more about this "Q" person last night, (apparently she was there when the body swapping took place) and he is, as Raph noted, omnipotent. Wonderful. We just can't win, can we? All grumbling aside, he is a serious problem. As Clarice and I were talking, Tim sent me notes (how does he do that?) informing me that there's no way I or any of the rest of security can fight him. I believe him wholeheartedly.
He said that he's the only one with a chance of getting Q under control, and even then it will be a battle unlike any we have ever seen. (In his words, "As soon as I'm up to it, and Bernard is willing to let me out, I'm challenging him. He's got an ego. A one on one duel will appeal to that. I'll take him outside, so as not to injure any patrons. This is going to be one helluva fight. Remember my war? Then, we had a large number of people against one almost omnipotent villain. This time, the villain is fully omnipotent.")
I know that we haven't really discussed what we plan to do about Tim, but I propose this - that we at least let Tim out long enough to deal with this horse's ass. I think we have to weigh costs and benefits here. However, this is largely irrelevant at the moment as it can't happen until Tim is better. This leads me into our next issue.
A truly horrid illness has afflicted several patrons. I think Tim is included here. Lady Ako's notice describing the symptoms is still on the board, and she's asked for people willing to hunt up the ingredients needed for the cure. Archie and I are going. We leave this evening. I've bumped Barry and Nick up to full time, and instructed everyone to be as active as possible. Here is a copy of the note I just left in the office. I will look for you before I leave, but if I don't find you, I will report in as soon as we return.

I spoke to Barry about Q the other day; your plan for Tim is sound, and I do want to sit down with you when we have a spare five minutes (which is never) and talk seriously about a long-term plan for Security.
As for the illness... I've noticed. I've been keeping Sunny home for a reason. Good luck getting the cures. We'll hold down the fort as best we can.
At least it hasn't affected everyone, right? I'd hate to have a teething toddler with sudden fangs on my hands.
Always a bright side.

P.S. We'll all keep an eye on Barty. Never fear.
